Watercat 150 Pilot
Watercat 135/140/150 Pilot boats are based on Marine Alutech’s own design. The boat is a mono-hull construction with one diesel engine and a fixed propeller. It is built according to the regulations of NBS-Y 1990, (DNV) Workboats, LOA less than 15m and the hull after Lloyd’s SSC G3.
These pilot boats are specifically customised for ice operations and hard sea conditions. Reaching the top speed of 23 knots it is also capable to proceed in winter in 15 cm of new ice. This capacity gives the boat annually circa 1.5 to 2 months of additional service time compared to conventional aluminium pilot boats in the Baltic Sea – and similar environments.
The boat is readied for winter operations by heating the whole deck area including all handrails and windows. The deck area is also coated with non-slip paint and movement is secured with a safety rail. Main deck is illuminated with a weatherproof light cable.
For the helmsman, Watercat 135/140/150 Pilot is an ideal made real. Its ergonomically designed driver environment with all round visibility makes it a top-seller when fulfilling customer expectations. Low noise levels – well under 70dBa – means the crew has a safe and pleasant daily work environment.
The latest electronics, modern chart system and autopilot completed with a fully automatic HVAC make operating in different weather conditions comfortable, reducing fatigue. In the engine room is intentionally designed to make maintenance operations as easy as possible.
The engine is situated in the middle of the engine room and around the engine extended ceiling height eases operations. The engine room is equipped with a door and an exit hatch, both with a central wrench.
